Day 3

Today was yet another free and easy day, as the campus orientation tour has been postponed to tommorrow because the wuhan students and staffs are not ready. Hence, we took a 30mins bus ride to 步行街(bu xing street) to visit the 世界城 shopping mall. The shopping mall is pretty huge residing in the buzzling street of the bu xing street.

Before we set off, we visited the student canteen for the first time during this trip. There were long queue so we just bought a simple snack like hotdog and a cup of green tea as our breakfast.

WUST students queueing up to buy foods.

After the light breakfast, we gathered at the nearby bus stop to take bus 903 to bu xing street. The bus ride took around 30 mins. We managed to view some nice scenery like the river and plenty of buildings. The bus operating system is totally different from that of Singapore. First, there is a so-called bus ticketing lady in the bus. Once you board the bus, they will require you to pay 2RMB for the bus ride. This is paid in cash and its unlimited to any destination you wanna go. In return, she will gave u a small receipt. The other thing is that the bus doesn't has a bell. The bus lady would ask if anyone would wants to alight at a particular bus stop when reaching, and if any of the passengers wants to, he or she has to say 'yes', and then the bus would stop, if not the bus would just continuing its journey.

Well, it seems like Singapore bus operating system is more high-tech using ez-link card and has a bell function for stopping.

Picture of us squeezing in the bus.

The bus ticket that the ticketing lady gave us.

If any china soldiers in uniform board the bus, their bus ride is FREE.

The buzzling road in the city of bu xing jie.

This is the shopping mall we are visiting. It's huge!

High rise building everywhere.

The shopping mall is partially open-air, so it's quite warm inside~

Took a photo with J02 class. Clockwise from the top left:
Chin Kuang, Erwin, Zhong Rong, Edy and myself.

After looking around, we proceed to McDonalds for lunch. The McDonalds here is different from Singapore. Its famous meal here is pork burger and most of us gave it a try. It's really delicious. Another delicacy in the local McDonalds is the mango pie. It's similar to the apple pie in Singapore, just that the internal cream is made of mango.

McDonalds!Here we come~

My pork burger meal. But unfortunately the local people don't eat chilli sauce, so we didn't recieve any...

After the meal, we walk around the shopping mall to explore. Here are some random shots that I captured.
What's this 'no-wheel car' doing here?
A nice way to shop! Taken inside the Carrefour supermarket. This escalator has all the shopping stuffs beside them so consumers can easily get them while travelling on the escalator.
A stall selling smelly beancurd in the shopping mall. I give it a try and it tastes delicious.
We spend 2-3hrs in this arcade trying to 'fish' this cute plushy toy. Most of them
managed to get at least one while I get zero =(
Beautiful evening sunset at bu xing jie.

Travel back to WUST campus area at about 7pm. Similar to the morning bus ride, it was still squeezy as usual. Reached the campus at about 730pm and proceed to the 华泰街(hua tai street)
roadside to have some meals. The local dishes over there are simply delicious and it's crowded with people. All these stalls only opened at night. It would be great to enjoy supper at there every night!
hua tai street with plenty of roadstalls.

Reflection:
After exploring the city of wuhan, I can only comment that it's great to immerge in other country, getting to know more of their lifestyle cultures etc. Their city are really quite busy and this can show that the china economy is doing really well. It has been estimated that China would become one of the economical powerhouse in few years to come. So why not take a visit here? =P
